A few years ago, the Board of Directors and administrative team launched a mission to provide affordable insurance options to members. We researched the local market, and determined two things we wanted to do differently: 1) offer true insurance savings with deeper discounts available through a variety of providers; and, 2) add licensed Goldenwest insurance agents to every Credit Union branch for personalized, local service.

I’m pleased to report our mission is successfully on course. Since introducing Goldenwest Insurance Services, our members have reduced premium payments on homes, autos, RVs and umbrella policies by $1.5 million. Most members experience savings up to 35% when compared to prices they were paying previously.

We have licensed Goldenwest agents at every branch location. You’ll recognize these agents as the same employees who have assisted you with your mortgages, loans and investments. What could be more convenient than obtaining insurance on your new home, auto or RV at the same time you are securing a loan?

The establishment of Goldenwest Insurance Services is among the most innovative money-saving initiatives created in our Credit Union’s 81-year history. When you choose coverage from Goldenwest Insurance Services, not only can you reduce your own premium payments, but you will also help the thousands of other members in our not-for-profit financial cooperative save money.

We recently enjoyed the hospitality of West Jordan City Mayor Kim Rolfe and the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce at our branch ribbon cutting. If you live or work on the west side of Salt Lake County, stop by our new location at 7800 South and 5600 West. West Jordan branch manager and insurance agent, Eric Yuhas, is already saving members money on their premiums. As recently as last week, Eric helped a couple reduce their auto insurance payments on two vehicles from $212/month to $128/month. Plus, they added a trailer to their policy! These happy members reduced their annual premiums by more than $1,000, and received better coverage on their vehicles.
