Goldenwest Holds Annual Meeting and Announces Board Election Results

OGDEN, UT: April 11, 2018 – Goldenwest Credit Union members, employees, and volunteers joined together at the 82nd Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 10th at historic Union Station in Ogden. The meeting included the presentation of the 2017 Annual Report to the membership and reports from leaders in the organization.

As Chairman of the Board, Bill Hart directed the meeting. During his remarks, Hart commented on the significant growth the Credit Union is experiencing. He also mentioned the value Goldenwest provides its’ members, including the $1.75 million bonus dividend paid at the end of 2017. The Chairman congratulated the administration, management team, and employees on a successful year.

Kerry Wahlen, President/CEO, announced the Credit Union has purchased eight acres of land in south Weber County near the existing corporate office for future growth. In his report, Wahlen cited the four branches the Credit Union opened in 2017, and mentioned new branches opening this year in Farmington and North Salt Lake. He reported on the completion of the merger with Healthcare Credit Union, and the acquisition of a health insurance brokerage that occurred last year.

Supervisory Committee Chair Ron Gebhardt stated the Credit Union continues to operate in a fiscally safe manner, adhering to internal and established accounting principles. Gebhardt certified the statements presented in the 2017 Annual Report accurately represent the financial position of the Credit Union.

Governance Committee Chair Tad Neuenswander reported the Credit Union had received three Statements of Qualification for the three open Board of Directors positions in the 2018 election. All three nominees, Mr. Bill Hart, Ms. Jeanette Smyth, and Mr. Dave Adams, were incumbents. In accordance with the Goldenwest bylaws, Mr. Bill Hart, Ms. Jeanette Smyth, and Mr. Dave Adams were elected by acclamation to the Board of Directors during the meeting.

Following the Member Business Meeting, Board members held a private session during which they elected Bill Hart as Chairman, Dan Musgrave as Vice-Chairman, and Jeanette Smyth as Secretary for the next 12 months.
