Goldenwest Credit Union Named "Best of State"
SALT LAKE CITY—June 4, 2012: Goldenwest Credit Union was named the 2012 Utah “Best of State” medal winner in the credit union category for the fifth consecutive year. The Utah Best of State Awards Program acknowledges excellence in a vast array of industry sectors including business, education, hospitality, retail, and technology. More than 200 specific category winners have been acknowledged in this program that is dedicated to recognizing and promoting outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout Utah.
“It’s an honor for Goldenwest to receive the Best of State medal in the credit union category for five consecutive years,” said Kerry H. Wahlen, President/CEO. “This award helps recognize our purpose as a not-for-profit financial cooperative based on the principle of people helping people. We are committed to play a vital and positive role in the lives of our members, employees, and others within the communities we serve.”
According to chief executive officer Dana Layton, winners of the 2012 Best of State Awards were rated and judged on their impact on the community; excellence and achievement within their industry; and, innovation and originality. Each nomination was judged on its own merits and was not ranked against other nominees in the same category by the judges. Ballots were directly mailed to the certified public account firm Gilbert & Stewart, where they tabulate the scores for accuracy. Best of State medal winners were announced to the public, and award recipients were recognized during the formal Awards Gala presentation in Salt Lake City on May 22, 2012.
