Goldenwest Credit Union was named the winner in the credit union category for the 2011 Utah Best of State Award. This is the fourth consecutive year Goldenwest has been honored with the medal in the credit union category. The Utah Best of State Awards Program acknowledges excellence in a vast array of industry sectors including business, entertainment, education, hospitality, retail, technology, and sports. More than 200 specific category winners have been acknowledged in this program that is dedicated to recognizing and promoting outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout Utah.

According to chief executive officer Dana Layton, winners of the 2011 Best of State Awards have been rated and judged on their impact on the community, excellence and achievement, and innovation and originality. This years judging was hosted by Salt Lake Community College’s Miller Business Resource Center and took place over a period of four full days. An independent judging process, featuring judges with category-specific credentials, has resulted in a confidential tabulation of results by the Gilbert & Stewart accounting firm, and culminated in a formal Awards Gala presentation on June 4, 2011.
